i originally did this drawing for an environmental class. at the top of the head are some of the animals that are now extinct, gone forever, and now only memories. the hair nearest the forehead represents the sea and the shore and the forests, but as you move to the back of the head there is deforestation and erosion, caused by logging and industry. the extinction of many animals and plant species is caused directly by the loss of their shelter, homes, and food supplies caused by deforestation.

in the middle of the head, in which SHOULD be our present thoughts are those endangered species like the great blue whale, the manatee, and the spotted owl. the clock, almost at 12, represents that we are almost out of time. the paper sign was an actual poster tacked to a tree, that i saw in a newpaper as as a kid, put up to warn people that they were entering a dangerous dioxin area, caused by a chemical spill that destroyed every living thing around it.

at the bottom of the drawing are the factories with toxic emissions going up into the air, breathed into our lungs, and brought back down by the rain and then into our water supplies. the hand represents agriculture, and although we tend to think of farming in a positive "homey" kind of way, the fact is that the chemicals and pesticides they use in some farming leaves us with a dry, barren, and lifeless earth.

i usually do macabre & horror type paints, but i think what this drawing represents is much more horrible and terrifying than any "horror" paint i can imagine....because this could be the REAL horror, and terror, and decay that we will see happen to our home. yes, the earth IS in own hands. so sitting here and doing nothing does not help the situation.
i know, i sound like i'm preaching...but it's how i feel. thank you for reading and viewing and for every single comment.

 GREAT WORK !! it's surrealistic and realistic too .. the world is dead in seconds ... !! :worship:
that is so true. if only more people realized that something could be done.

the representation comes across well.
i think there is great balance between the top and bottom images. i know i just recently made a comment about text in images but this picture don't really need it. i think that the images speak for themselves.
dose the hair represent our dying rainforest
What dose the paper represent. -- to me it is the contract that gives permission to the industrialist to destroy the natural resources. maybe i'm looking too much into it.

this image really makes you think
